Durham to Lead £3.8M National Hub for Advanced Computing and AI

We are delighted to announce that Durham University is leading a major new UK-wide initiative, SHAREing (Skills Hub for Accelerated Research Environments Inspiring the Next Generation), launched in support of the UKRI Compute Roadmap.
Backed by £3.8 million from the UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure Programme, SHAREing will build capacity, expertise, and collaboration across advanced computing and artificial intelligence. Under the leadership of Professor Tobias Weinzierl, the hub will unite more than 30 partners — spanning universities, technology firms, and research organisations — to train and support the next generation of Digital Research Technology Professionals (RTPs), including PhD students, postdocs, software engineers, and IT specialists.
Through a combination of online learning, tailored professional development, and community-driven initiatives, SHAREing will help researchers across disciplines harness the full potential of high-performance computing and emerging digital tools — accelerating discovery across the UK.
